                            A People Fully Alive

Restored, Resourced, Released

Isaiah 61:1-3; John 10:10

Today is Sunday 15th April 2018

We welcome you to our Service where we gather together not as those who have our lives perfectly sussed out, but as fellow pilgrims on a journey. We meet to acknowledge God’s power through the Holy Spirit in our lives, to celebrate and to affirm that we are not our own – we belong to God and belong to one another because of the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.

Our reading today is Isaiah 7:3-9

So often when we are in the midst of adversity or trouble we cannot see a way out and the whole world appears set against us.  It is true that trials and trouble will come our way and the evil one just wants us to despair, worry and give up. However in God there is always hope. God sees the big picture, the past, the present and the future. He can not only see the light at the end of the tunnel, He is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Let us remain strong in faith whatever the circumstances. Easier said than done but the Lord will provide strength even as we call on Him. Remember God loves you even when you know you don’t deserve it. His love will carry you through any situation. Pray for folk going through struggles that they will not lose faith in the Lord. Pray for surges of reassurance and encouragement from the Lord and support from His children. (The Church)

As you join us today you will notice that our service is typically in three parts. Until about 10:30am we encourage the whole family to engage in worship. After family notices/birthday greetings and offerings, the kids are provided with their own “kids’ time” while the adults can further worship pray and then reflect on the sermon.

Our Speaker today is Winsome Parnell and our Worship Leader is Rob Craigie

Pilgrims on Friday 20th April – Come to Muss B before noon in time for warm fellowship and warm food. You are welcome to bring a friend. Pilgrims is a monthly shared lunch for ‘mature’ members of the congregation. It provides an opportunity for fellowship (talk and food) and sometimes shared activities e.g. taking lunch to the gardens.  Sometimes it is a ‘bring and share’ lunch…sometimes lunch is provided (gold coin donation) and we have celebration meals, for example at Christmas. Most often we meet at the Church so that we have a kitchen for food preparation and a warm and comfortable place to eat.  Winsome Parnell and Alison Paterson organise the events together. While most come regularly we are open to anyone joining us …or bringing a friend.

From John Canaan –

Hi I’m off to the Philippines on Saturday. I’m going to get married on 30th April to a lovely Christian women called Amie. She has an 18 yearold son, called Ivan. He is graduating today with honour’s. It way out of my comfort zone however I know the Lord walks with me 😉 Hopefully when all the paper work and legal requirements have been sorted out she and her son will become part of our family at Musselburgh Church.

So your prayers would be much appreciated. A new culture, a new family. God is good.

Pregnancy Help Dunedin wishes to thank MBC church members who knitted all the lovely woollen singlets, hats and toys for babies recently. They were greatly encouraged by the support and hope that we will continue knitting and contributing to their project which provides free woollen singlets and other used baby clothings to mothers with young children and newborn babies. Tongsiew has enough wool yet for one newborn singlet 😉 – any takers?

Any thought or light bulb moment while listening to the sermon this morning?? Quick, jot it down in the scribble space and give it to Tongsiew to share in next week’s MBC Sharing & Caring 😉
